Fantasia Receives Homage At New York Album Release Party

fantasiaxlAfter selling nearly three million albums, winning a Grammy and starring in a leading role on Broadway, American Idol winning star Fantasia Barrino was given the opportunity to sit back and let her fans and colleagues show her just how much she has inspired them at her New York City album release party for her latest album “Side Effects of You” hosted by Love Jones NYC (which fusions elements of live performance, dance, spoken word and painting) and SingersRoom at XL Nightclub and Lounge.

After walking the red carpet, posing for pics, and doing brief interviews Fantasia was able to relax in the VIP section, as fans both within the music industry and outside showed love. Fantasia was brought to her feet as R&B singers Joe and Kenny Lattimore serenaded her with song, and she was especially moved by a gospel rendition of “Pass Me Not”, from her Lifetime biopic sung to Fantasia at the album release by her fan Yummy Bingham.Gospel singer Vashawn Mitchell also took to the stage to “spiritually lift”, Fantasia. Other tributes to Fantasia included being sung to by her “biggest fan”, as well as a dance tribute where Love Jones NYC dancers showed off dance moves they especially choreographed to Fantasia’s songs

Others who came out to celebrate with Fantasia and show their love included Missy Elliott and singer/’R&B Divas’ star Monifah.

Fantasia herself did take the stage, later in the evening to give a special “thank you” to those in attendance, performing her latest hit “Lose To Win”, telling the audience that with this album there is a new Fantasia. Tasia also addressed the audience that the album isn’t just about a guy, but can be applied to dealing with others in life like family, friends, colleagues who aren’t truthful, and/or just want to take from you and not give back.

At the end of the night a hand painted portrait of Fantasia, which was worked on throughout the night was auctioned off
