Oscars To Add Popular Film Category

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has announced there are some big changes in store for the future of the annual Academy Awards. One of the biggest changes that was announced was the creation of a new category to honor popular films that do not fight the criteria to be nominated in the current film categories.

Also it was announced that the live telecast of the award show will be limited to three hours, and certain categories will be awarded during commercial breaks and telecast later during award show broadcast. The last of the three major changes that have been announced is moving the date of the ceremony up two weeks from February 23 to February 9th in 2020.
