Busta Rhymes and Friends Get Hot For the Holidays

busta-rhymes-and-friends-hot-97-2015-23Busta Rhymes put together a show for the holidays at New Jersey’s Prudential Center on Saturday(December 5th) with the help of a slew of hip hop friends, Footaction, and Hot 97, which it can be said in fact rivaled and took things up a notch when compared to Hot 97’s similar annual Summer jam hip hop festival concerts, making sure that there was something for hip hop fans to enjoy whether 25 or 45.
“Hot 4 the Holidays”, as the concert was deemed celebrated not only Busta’s longevity in hip hop, but celebrated what the New York/New Jersey area has contributed to hip hop.
From the start of the show despite the plethora of acts that hit the stage in the almost three hour show, Busta reigned as “king” of the stage as evidenced by his “Coming to America” inspired grand entrance to kick off the show. Then came the guest introduced by Busta starting with Sean Paul who joined Busta for “Make It Clap”. After doing a song with Busta, Rhymes left the stage and gave the artist their own time to shine onstage without him.
As the show moved along through the evening, things got personal as Busta shared some stories about the connection that he had with some of the artist onstage off stage like Fetty Wap (telling the audience about Fetty performing at his son’s graduation party).
Some of the musical highlights of the show included Mariah Carey who has been recovering from the flu joining Busta and Flip Mode Squad onstage to perform “I Know What You Want”, Lil Kim joining Mary j Blige onstage for a rare live performance together of “I Can Love You”, and a reunion between Busta and Leaders of the New School which took things all the way back to the beginning with “Scenario”.
